Hi, I'm Baby, a sassy six-foot succulent plant, born and raised in tropical Southwest Africa. Five years ago I crossed the Atlantic for a little northern exposure. Now I vegetate my days away, staring out the window of my urban greenhouse, sipping peyote tea... mixed with a shot of agave syrup!

I may not hold the cure to weight loss, like my uncle the hoodia gordonii. I'm not a holiday novelty, like my neighbour the Christmas cactus. I'm not the cure for diabetes, or an exotic addition to Tex-Mex shrimp patties. I am a spurge, an Euphorbia trigona, also known as an African Milk Tree, or Cathedral Cactus. I am also an occasional scratching post for my feline companion, Abby.

I have agreed to participate in this live webcast, as a means to share my wondrous flowering and blossoming with the world. My image is captured every ten minutes with a Canon digital webcam (http://governmentcheese.ca/cactuscam), so please check back hourly, daily, weekly, to witness my amazing growth...
